Holmes, R. 1961 Journal 32. 1 July Wales → Kotzebue lake enireel. Behind the coastline - had 3-4 incubating Glanous Geese. At the point of turning inland (20 min N. 1 Schumert), a lake about 2 mi inland had an island with 20-30 incubating geese - in gull colony. The frosts in Prince is still brown except at pond edges, where this year's growth is showing through. Ocas. Horker? Brant (Cruode Geese?) seen - Ne Lays John, Scamp, Anna. Scots, White - id. Scots, Plannings, Old Square & Phalange as seen. Antic lows are quite common + 2 Horker? 4 Cork - Sandhee Cranes? The cliffs just west 1 deerly hod many thousands of Mure (Puffin too?) - Also at Cape Breit, landed at Deering at 1945. There is a small (100t) Eskim fishing village - with an old school & apparently no white people at this time. Left Deering at 2010 after seeing Western Sandpiper, Antitien, Glanous Geese, Redpoll, St. Lappes. We flew the same course back to Kotzebue - arrived there at 2100. Stayed at Rotman's Hotel, but were forced to eat
