Holmes, R. 1959 Journal 13. 12 June Barrow, Alaska. The longspurs and buntings were carrying out their flight displays. One 4 bunting was noted carrying nesting material near the barbe-stop-bldg. on the tree. 2000-2100. Drum area. Several longspurs done their flight display. The Baird's t semipool were noted doing their fly U displays and Two Red-taeks Were Chasing over the tundra. 13 June Barrow, Alaska. 1000-1215. Drove out to the brush ridge and checked on snow conditions. The snow has melted same during the past two days, but seems to be slowing down. In the past, there is usually a warm spell which starts the thaw and then a colder period which halts or at least slows down the thawing, followed by a rapid melting. Apparently the snow conditions at this time are in the delayed-thaw period. According to F.A.R., the melt-off is nearly 8-10 days behind a normal year. Not many birds were seen, but a few red-b. Sages buntings and
