Holmes, R 1961 Journal 26 1 July Walls→ Kotzebue, Alaska common bird. A few Sino-palmed Selp we see but they were almost entirely close to the beach-area. Snipe were seen here + I was heard winnowing. This same type of country prevail to the north along the south and west side of lagoon, but here, there are larger ponds. Flakes. Red + Northern Phalumpes seen about the same in population number - not rather common. (Red - not so abundant as at Barrow). Long-tailed Dowitchers were found in these wet, pond-edge locations, as well as dunlin wheel were exceedingly common (only surpassed by the Western Sapi's abundance). Kingspurs + Raspocs were commonly seen. Red-thr. loons, old Squaws, + Arctic Terns were seen also. At lagoon. Parasitic Jaeger (2) + Long-tailed Jaeger (lot) were seen flying on the air - with no signs of nesting seen. Apparently to the north along the lagoons, Common Eider are nesting rather commonly - along with Arctic Tern + Glaucon Geese. There are on the swelled islands along the lagoon.
