Holmes R. 1961 Journal 25. 1 July Wales, -> Kotzebue, Alaska A nest of mouri was located on the west slope of the 1st ridge overlooking the village. It was situated in a very mossy habitat where grasses were growing through the moss. The nest was among these gasses and was lined by dead grasses. 4 eggs were small and covered with small brownish-red spots. The incubating bird gave a typical display with tail fanned completely, wings out and flapping head down, shoulders hunched to a squeaking noise. She never came closer than 6'. Northern Phalaropes and Red Phalaropes were seen commonly in the flat marshy furdra along pond edges. Habitat Classifications: The area near the beach is covered with a tall, beach grass. This area had redwells, yellow wagtails, white wagtail (1 - with nest), of course the glaucous gulls along the beach. Behind the beach ridge, a mile-wide stretch of flat marshy terrain extends back to the base of the hill (slope of Cape Mountain). In this habitat, 10 eastern Sandpipers were for the most
