Holmes,R. 1961 Journal 23. 30 june Wales, Alaska meadows near the reindeer coral. Long-b. Rowitchers were seen regularly, Seveme gave the "mouse-run" + The 2 collutes had broad patches. Two westerns were banded last I was this morning. Red-thr. Loons were seen a few yards. Arctic Terns were found commonly near the coast (of the lagoon). We looped around and returned to the village at 1730 - soaked to the skin. Ideal clothes in this weather- would be a long rain parka + hip boots. The weather was not really cold, but just plenty wet. In the evening, a short walk was made around the village area, traps were checked and field notes recorded (in writing on tape). The mammal sign here is mostly restricted to the village - beach ridge area where Minnows holes are seen. The animals cought have been Mustelus (feromines?). Foxes are apparently common. No caribou are found on the peninsula. Reindeer were introduced + the deed of hoof-rot. Spotted seals are killed commonly, so are Walrus, sogunk (Erignathus), it polar bear.
