Station for the U.S. Navy). A man (his
wife + child) is stationed here, man duties
seem to be weather reporting + maintenance.
We are now quartered in the senior
scientists house - with wool-to-wool
carpeting, easy chairs, etc. Food will
be served to us by the family living here.
The station here will only serve
government people, particularly USN
personnel, not sure we have naval
technician status, we are ok.
Lemard Peyton, a biologist from
Arctic Health Lab at Anchorage, is also
staying here - apparently to work with
Sevuk re bird migration. After
getting settled, Sullivan & I walked
out & ran out to his snap traps -
then we set 30 traps to sample local
microtine pop. A Red-brock we
saw, a snipe, 2 West. Sop., longspur,
golden-crowned Sparrow, Yellow Wagtail.
Trevor saw a Hedgehog flyby today. Peyton sights Pacific
Eider, Glauca and Arctic Tern
nesting in the islands, west of
Long Island & De Nort. Also a
White Wagtail is nesting - or
