Holmes, P.R. 1961 Journal 25 June Barrow, Alaska Today was clear - with patches of fog - & wind up to 20 mph. 26 June Barrow, Alaska Spent all day in lab doing insect sorting. Weather - overcast with a light N. wind. Mucel & Chamberlain went to Wainwright - Dave returned with the plane with the report that lemming syn was gone. In the evening I drove to Woolsley Sloyl - very few birds were seen. 27 June Barrow → Iqaluit, Alaska Left lab at 0800 - arrived at the wangle at 0845. Very little seen on the way down - no redbacks. When I arrived here at the lake, I found a eskimo family camped between the plot & the lakeshore - at stroke 12. The kids were running around with sleigh dogs, etc. - so I believe the plot is finished for the summer. The census was extremely poor - very little was seen. The weather was overcast & a cold, nippy N. wind was blowing. It snowed at short intervals throughout the day. I came down across the No. end - 1 Dr. Sloley, over the ridge into the lowland south of footprints. Here a [illegible]
