Holmes, R. 1961 Journal 18 June Barrow, Alaska west 1 camp was rather dangerous. The wind blew fiercely today with gusts to 30 mph. It calmed Somewhat in the evening as the wind shifted from SW to NE. - Bird activity was poor in near Voth's area. 19 June Stayed all day doing insect sampler. The weather was cold - wind - with a NE wind blowing. 20 June Barrow - Skovvik, Alaska. Took Johnson & Sullivan to Skovvik. Weather overcast with occasional 1 sun + fog. - Bird activity poor - NW pectoral seaplot - only 1 seen on the trip (rest RBR). RB were relatively common. 1 Nest was found near the 0.0 ends of Traplin III & IV near the new road to Voth's area. It was a funny thing - a gull + wading with small pectoral seaplot - 4 eggs These were confiscated along the way, but actually few were found on the plot. In the evening, the weather cleared & I went to Voth's aerodrome for the purpose of recording bird songs - during 2 hrs on the tundra. 1 RB was heard calling.
