Holmes,R. 1961 Tournee 14 June Barrow, Alaska Spent entire day in lab working on insect samples. Finished around 2030. Worked arts for remainder of day. Weather clean - mild patches of fog. 15 June Barrow, Alaska In morning, diverted out to the beach ridge & Clam - Wulshchog area. The weather was windy southeast - normal Barrow weather. The clear skies which we have been having for the last 6 days has speeded up the melt-off so that now the only snow left is where drifted accumulated - especially along the slope of the Beach Ridge. The Slaughter well open, p.m. are cracked; I hear from Andy Crane that the regular road to Footprint is now open. Central marsh never flooded this year, since melt-off & run-off were continuous; this holds for after-noon as well as c.m. In the afternoon, diverted out to Wulshchog took my soil samples, etc. The evening was spent in picking insects 16 June Barrow, Alaska The morning hours were passed doing continuous insect analysis.
