Holmes,R 1961 Journal 13 June Barrow - Ikravik, Alaska and persisted for the remainder of the day. I left at 0730 for Ikravik & arrived there at 1000. Footprint + Voth Creek were flooded, making it necessary to go via Renali Gate. There was an amazing plume of shorebirds with no sandpiper seen until after I crossed the gate. Occas. jaegar were seen; one caught alemming near the gate. A moat had formed at Ikravik + De wangin pond had opened up was 70% free of ice. The plot was 95% clear snow with only small drifts left. The bird attack seemed poor. RB were weak as where appared common; Pectorals were in short supply, but small groups 1-3-4 birds were seen flying by, so possibly male are moving in. Golden Plovers were not common, and few chaoz were seen where 2 birds would be chasing a third. - Moreover, this seemed to be a digizite over the & (see spec. acct) - So & may be in short supply. No white-rumps were seen heard at De So. end of the plot. Great sampling areas were chosen + Samps Taken. I left for the camp at 2000 + arrived at 2100 - Since Footprint level drained sometime during the day.
