Holmes,R. 1961 Journal 8 June Barrow, Alaska They had sank their weasel. We could not pull it out as it was in too deep. The snow coats had frozen. Incidentally with the clear weather - provided cold temperature - so that the pins were born with 1/4" free by 2100. After returning from the village at 2400. I went out with the sound recorder, but I had trouble getting it to work. I return at 3am. I went to bed. 9 June Barrow, Alaska Sun is still out. The air is generally calm, but a slight breeze picked up during the morning. Left here at 6:00 with Dr. Frey, a limnologist from Indiana University - for Skraouk. The slope behind Voth's area was impassable, so we had to detour Voth's Slope-Mesh - which was also rather treacherous - 2-3' wide. The road through Footprint was extremely poor, we were probably the last weasel to make it through. From now on we shall have to go around on the sides. The detours also roughness. The breakup seem to be about 10-14 days earlier than year, but some of the ponds are still quite frozen. The ice in Skraouk has begun to melt a little at Stander's dam
