Holmes,R. 1959 Journal 9 June Barrow, Alaska 1000-1100. Drum area behind A.R.L. The snow is beginning to melt and large areas are becoming exposed. The wind has shifted to So. or S.W. and is a light wind. The Bunting and Longspurs are beginning to pair off and set up territories. Several Red Sops were feeding in the exposed area. 2 Clamorous Creeks seen in the dump area. 1400-1630. Both Area and Vicinity. This area is beginning to become exposed; however there is still a considerable amount of snow present. Longspurs and Buntings are common, being seen here. There were many patches of exposed tundra which were unoccupied for either Buntings or Longspurs. 9 Pomarine Jaegers were noted flying So. over the tundra. The weather became sunny at 1500, but there was still a light S.W. wind. 2200-2300. Drum Area. Several Buntings and Longspurs seen,
