16 Aug Barrow=Cape Lisburne, Alaska
The top and 45 on the sides. The
Total 145 nests may still be too
high. As we were approaching the
Lake there were an estimated 130
Adults + 50 juveniles. All juveniles
flew when we approached. Other
steries scattered on the lake.
Three paper bags were filled with
pieces of bone, feather, & other
what may enable us to get much
on the effort? The gull is a harder
predator. Several of the nests were
filled with sticks + straw and were
therefore built up street right
from the ground. There may have
actually been the active one
this year. We left the lake at
1730. Arrived at Barrow at 2056.
The weather today was cool (~32°)
and windy (gusts to 40mph - NE-N).
On the trip back toward the bar, a gold
seagull was seen near Liz 2, and
several family group 1 Sevens were
noted SW of Liz B. Group 1 Lober
geese were noted also. One goat +
2 Horned Ptarmigan were seen about
a mile off shore near Liz A.
