Holmes, R. 1960 Journal 52. 11 Aug. Barrow, Alaska with a few Phalaropes. The Tundra was extremely wet today. All the troughs and dried pools were again filled, & The Tundra had the appearance it had at melt off time. During The afternoon, the clouds lifted and the rain ceased. Reynolds & I went out & picked up the trap per AFS and put Demount again on The Bear Ridge. When we also restaked the lines. 12 Aug Barrow, Alaska The traps were checked in the morning & again in the evening. Central Marsh Fridinity were checked for birds during the afternoon. Here there were flocks of Pectorals (all juveniles), phalaropes, and several Western Sandpipers. Long- tailed Dowitchers are now fairly common in the marsh & large flocks are seen frequently. 13 Aug Barrow Alaska The last of Maher's junior watcher was conducted today in Central Marsh.
