Holmes, R. 1960 Journal 44. 26 July Barrow = Ikravuik, Alaska Overcast and windy (15-20 mph, NE). 27 July Barrow, Alaska During the morning, I worked on notes and specimens. In the afternoon, Maher and I went to the far owl nest near Sopkib Slough and banded the young. The nests along the way were also checked. Specimens were prepared in the evening. 28 July Barrow, Alaska The morning was occupied by preparing skins + writing notes. In the afternoon, I drove to Voth & Britton's Areas and then south to the north end of Jodhpurit Lake. Shorebirds are now seen only in the wet- low- texture polygon areas, and the high- plains are relatively bare (except possibly for the Golden Plovers). The localities in particular are the muddy areas where the birds are often seen feeding. The weather today was windy & cloudy - with some sun in the afternoon.
