Journal
Specimens prepared in the morning.
In the afternoon, Jim Burns, George
Kentner, Maher, and I left here
at 1300 for a trip to Reedman's Island,
and The Plover Islands. In Elson
Lagoon, a few small flocks of
Old Squaws were seen, and several
molting King Eiders were present.
One Broad King Eider was noted
NE of Reedman's Island. Flocks 1
2 & 3 w/ yes Glamorous Gulls were
present around the Islands also
with The nesting Solitary Gulls
& Arctic Terns. The Islands
themselves are low flat
gravel islands with only an
occasional patch of grass
growing among the driftwood.
We first landed on Doctor's
Island, the one closest to Ellett's
Pass. There was only 1 Arctic
Tern nest which we found. On Reedman's
Island, there were numerous
terns (3-400) around the island +
