Holmes, R. 1960 24 July Barrow, Alaska Journal Specimens prepared in the morning. In the afternoon, Jim Burns, George Kentner, Maher, and I left here at 1300 for a trip to Reedman's Island, and The Plover Islands. In Elson Lagoon, a few small flocks of Old Squaws were seen, and several molting King Eiders were present. One Broad King Eider was noted NE of Reedman's Island. Flocks 1 2 & 3 w/ yes Glamorous Gulls were present around the Islands also with The nesting Solitary Gulls & Arctic Terns. The Islands themselves are low flat gravel islands with only an occasional patch of grass growing among the driftwood. We first landed on Doctor's Island, the one closest to Ellett's Pass. There was only 1 Arctic Tern nest which we found. On Reedman's Island, there were numerous terns (3-400) around the island + Flying over woods screaming
