Holmes, R. 1959 Journal 6 50 to 75 feet and then "floating" to the ground on outstretched wings, and at the same time uttering a twinkling or bubbling song. The buntings also had a flight similar to this, but it was not quite as graceful (for the wings were used more in the float period and several times they would fly up before reaching the ground. 6 June Band Area, ARL, Barrow, Alaska Weather: mostly overcast - light, cold SE wind. Time - 0800 - 0900. Not very much activity going on this mornings. After of the buntings and lmsppurn- were going through their flight songs and others were singing from the ground or perches. 1 Ruddy Turnstone was present ~ Dr Snow. Since the snow is covering everything except for a few small areas, The birds emigrate in these exposed locations?
