Holmes, R. 1960 28. Journal 29 june Barrow - Iternaint, Alaska pellets. The lake floor is covered by numerous weasel tracks in the grooves + depressions made by these vehicle tracks, New droppings have accumulated. It is hard to estimate The density of these droppings since the number would be extremely high, but I believe a conservative estimate would be several thousand /sq. ft. The groas which were rather evident in the lake last year has been cut & most 1 the clippings have washed out when the lake drained. This leaves the floor exposed without any cover (except in the areas of deep water). Lemmings are seen there commonly as they scurry back and forth. New grass is coming up on the drained portions of the lake. We arrived at Ne waniqa at 2305 after checking owl nest #4. Later that evening I went out & checked on owl nest #18. 30 june Iternaint, Alaska From the Census in the north 40 in the morning and early afternoon. The remainder of the day were spent
