During all our walking around in the area, the penguins never came close to us as it was not near. Several hatched chicks were noted, however. We arrived at Barrow at 2115 after ½ hr. delay due to heavy fog. 29 june Barrow-Ikrovik, Alaska In the morning, Pitelka, Reynolds and I went to owl nest 2+3 and weighed the young. Nest #3 was also fenced in. As afternoon, various deficits were taken care of in preparation for the trip to The lake. In the evening, Pitelka gave his seminar, and soon afterwards Carson & I left for Ikrovik. Footprint Lake is now mostly drained. It was noted that throughout The lake basin there are huge masses of lemming.
