Holmes,R. 1960 24 June I knowih, Alaska Feeding habits & then to sample - areas where The lures have actually fed. Perhaps I have just chosen while location (?). During the afternoon The plot was ceased. In the evening I walked to the mid (The entire plot (stake 25) and laid out the line of stakes on the east side & the ridge. About 1hr. was spent in looking for The wh-rumped Sandpiper; it was heard once but was never seen. Lemming activity still seems high even through The snow is now gone, Burrows have been dug into The polygons and especially into The mounds of moss. Whenever disturbed, The animals will dart out these tunnels. Occasional dead lemming are found, but The majority of These have been killed by jaegers. Weasels have not been seen yet (except 1 by Childs + 1 by Maha along the next ridge). The numbers of lemmings estimated before melt off/wait area seems to have decreased; this may be due greatly to The fact that
