Holmes, R. 1959 Journal 4. tundra is exposed yet. Snow Bunting are fairly common in among the buildings but were not seen away from this area. Two Glaucous Gulls seen about 1/2 or miles from A.R.L. in direction of Beach Ridge. At 2000, 1♀ - Mtn. Bluebird seen near Max Brewer's home west of Lab. It was noted again at 2230 in the same location. 5 June 0800-0900 - ARL area Barrow Alaska. Weather overcast, cool, with light wind Two Short-eared Owls near dump - Flew in and settled on snow with no more activity noted. 1 Ruddy Turnstone flying by the dump. Many Snow Buntings going through Their mating behavior. This consists of variety of chasing and uttering a guttural note. Population was noted twice among two different Paris. 1300-1430. Same weather and location Only one Short-eared Owl present -seen flying over snow. See. longspurs present - no pairing noted
