Holmes, R. 1960 Journal 7. 2 June Barrow, Alaska Spend the morning checking owl nests toward Makert Quat. The results of this activity are listed in the species accounts. Shorebird activity was slow with only a couple red-bellied display heard. Three turnstones were seen near Britt's Area. In the evening, Makert Quat went again to census his areas Check on more owl activities. 3 June Barrow, Alaska Shorebird activities were checked near Elson Lagoon and the beach ridge during the morning. The birds are increasing rapidly, and more can be heard displaying daily. Several locations on the beach ridge were canvassed for lemmings. Three plots were established along the crest of the ridge; all consisted of approx. 1/3 acres of exposed tundra surrounded more or less completely by snow. The results are presented
