3 Sept. Barrow, Alaska
Specimens were processed during
the late afternoon and evening, and
book work was done. The tundra
has become quite brown during
the last few days. The temperature
has also dropped and is now
quite cold. Winds are heavy; fog
has persisted during the last 6 days.
4 Sept. Barrow, Alaska
Snow was present on the ground
this morning, and the ponds were
frozen over. Snow flurries, wind
and cold weather in general persisted
all day. Work was continued in
the lab.
5 Sept. Barrow, Alaska
More Uintat specimens were processed
this morning. Bill Make returned
from the field at noon. The
afternoon was spent in the
vicinity of Footprint Lake to
with's tree. Birds were very
scarce. Three lemmings seen.
Owls were noted here & there (about
4 seen) and five mounds were
checked. Very few fresh pellets
were found in the mounds.
