Holmes,R 1959 Journal 44 25 August Barrow, Alaska Traps checked morning and evening, and Central Mural and Bead Ridge checked for birds BOTH times. A few lone Pecksnails were encountered in the morning and a flock of 7 were seen. In the evening a few Red-Nocks or west to Pecksnails were noted. Otherwise little else was seen. 26 August Barrow, Alaska. Traps were checked in the morning and evening, and 2 lines were taken out. Little bird activity was noted - that are 1 Central Mural. Footprint Lake, Skrossik, and adjacent areas were visited with moderate numbers of shorebirds being present in the wet marsh areas. Footprint Lake has a higher concentration than any other area. Lowell Douglas reports that the condition of the grasses on Bead Ridge this year is quite poor - at least in comparison to the good three years. Currently the growing season has not been
