July 3 373 Gravatt Dr. Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif: Numerous ad. ♂♂
Oakland
and ♀♀ or imm. at feeder. Some ad. ♂♂ losing gorget.
July 4 373 Gravatt : 10-25 ♂♂, numerous probable ♀♀ . One display.
July 5 373 Gravatt : same as yesterday , but no display
July 7 373 Gravatt : 1♂
July 8 373 Gravatt : 1♂
July 17 373 Gravatt: ♀ Selasphorus were captured at feeder
with insect nets. All were immatures by the bill corrugations.
There were 8 ♂, 1 ♀ . Seven of the males were very
probably Allen's by the narrow outer rectrices , to be sasin confirmed
July 19 U.C.Botanical Garden, Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co., Calif : 1 ad. ♂ -
a late date for an ad. ♂
July 27 373 Gravatt: of 10 birds captured , at least 7 are almost
certainly Allen's by virtue of very narrow outer tail feathers . Eight
only 3 measured out to be
of 10 birds caught were males , sasin
July 31 U.C. Botanical Garden : 1 imm. ♂ displaying (no whoosh at the
bottom of the dive.
Aug. 3 373 Gravatt: at least one captured and tail feathers saved.
But this was later found to be a Rufous
