Behavior: Foraged extremely quietly in dense blue oak foliage about 10 feet from ground, doing some fluttering.
Voice: Silent
Habitat: Blue-oak- digger pine foothills at a little pool or two of standing water surrounded by willows
How identification was decided - elimination of similar species:
Combination of
1) green back
2) yellow throat, breast sharply bordered by white belly, blue-gray face
3) blue gray upperparts with partial white eye-ring
4) 2 wing bars
eliminates any warbler I can think of
Prior experience with this species and similar species: Three times in Mass; Once at Oasis, Mono Co., 5-28-73
