La Grange. Orality in Saluda had 2 mi S by La Grange on the Gallatin rd. quite a large quarry in the form of sinks. Craft's livery stable - Mobile, Tenn. 1km very Shipy & then 2 1/2 miles west. 4 mi chpt & bend forced to SW. [illegible] force + plenty of small chert 4 ft upper bed prod clay 5 ft 9 in fairly solid white beryl cl. 6 in basal loamy (on road directly) 2 ft Chert 8 1/2 ft hard maroon Saluda 47 1/2 ft soft Saluda chalk 43 ft cherty feldspathic subquadrated top, Tetrachite layer 52 ft clay shale chalk 2 ft 6 in heavy limestone 46 ft [illegible] Corner & upper Gwynne Hill 8 ft, lined me [illegible] 31 ft stream level. Walden meeting of bull & about 5 feet of face of Louisville directly above. [illegible]
