June 3
I arrived at Hastings around 2:00 PM today to trap P. truei and californicus.
Plan on staying until June 8. Very pleasant temp. today, low-mid 80s.
By 5:30 I set 2 trap lines, with 10 stations, 2 traps per station.
Trapline I - lower edge of chaparral patch on Haystack Hill.
10-15m between stations. One trap placed under Chamise;
2nd trap placed ~1m from edge in open grass, etc.
Bait - rolled oats and birdseed mix. Border between grass
Savannah and Chaparral, with Riparian at 600ft, SE facing.
Trapline II - start at lower edge of same chaparral as Trapline I,
proceeds up through chaparral in random fashion.
All traps under Chamise. Traps at each station within
≤1m. Bait - rolled oats and bird seed mix

Trapline III - started at crest of Haystack Hill, proceeded south
down hill along edge of Chaparral/grassland.
Placed one trap under chamise at edge and other
trap 1-3m into chamise. Bait - as w/ I, II
Finished this trapline by 7:00 PM. Ecotone very
sharp between grass and chamise. Some bordering oaks.
