ZIBBLE, D.O. 1986 Journal (02) Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif Dec 18 Overcast, calm, high 40's, few rain drops. Started on RC-1 at 0700hr - Barely enough light to work. Finished RC-1 @ 0900h, started on MC-1. Still mostly cloudy. Finished MC-1 by 0950h - very few captures Dusted # 796-f with Green at station 10, 6; '' # [crossed out] 471-8 w/ Orange at 9, 10 - escaped up hill, SE, towards station 10, 11. Summary for RC: 1 F. californicus: 8 captures (4 mature (10f:3m): 3 subs (2:1): 1 juv (0)) 3 new animals (20:1f) P. boylii : 9 captures; 3 new Perognathus P. californicus : 4 captures; 1 new that died (# 750) californicus M. californicus : 2 captures; 1 new P. maniculatus : 1 capture N. Auscapes : 3 captures; 1 new S. trowbridgei : 1 new capture Total 28 captures (10 new animals) MC-1 - F. californicus : 2 captures (10:1f) P. boylii : 5 captures, 1 new P. huei 3 captures N. Auscapes 2 captures Total 12 captures (1 new animal) Returned home to start the mortality. Around noon it started to drizzle, which continued off and on all day. Reset traps from 13:30 to 1530 hrs. Went into town to get some bait. 2050hrs - Out on RC-1 to check traps. Drizzling off and on at first, but by 2200hs it was clear; the moon was out. Finished by 2210hrs.
