RIBBLE, D.O. 1986 53 Journal Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., CA Aug 21 (and) Summary of RC-1 P.californicus: 10 captures (4 ♂: 6 ♀) P.boylii: 9 captures (5 ♂: 4 ♀) 2 new animals (2 ♀) P.maniculatus: 1 capture (♂?) N.fuscipes: 2 captures (1 ♂, 1 untagged) S.troabidgii 1 capture (sex ?) Total captures: 23 Spent the afternoon adding a column (5,17-9,17) plus station 5,11. finished setting traps at 8[illegible] 1800 hrs. Found a M.californicus dead at station 6,14 , #0100 toe-clipped, (#742-see Catalog), finished setting traps on MC-1 at 1815 hrs. today was warm (low 90's) with no clouds. Finished the afternoon by setting 14 traps for animals to take back for Mammalogy Class - I set 6 traps around the upper shed, 2 on the creek by the Bank House, and 6 behind the Red house on the Chamise. [Hi = 88 Lo = 50 (Trace Rain)] Aug 22 0200hr (Pst-Daylight savings time) -Out for night time check on RC-1. It is clear, c[illegible] cool (low 70's), with no clouds. As with other nights the moon is very bright. I can hear a G.I. Owl to the east 0215hr -#615 ♂(9,17) -red pigment on limbs, mouth, ears, tail, paws. Not much, but definite contact. 0230- # 2648 ♂ (5,17) -green on limbs, belly, paws, tail, mouth fea[illegible] definite contact. 0240- trap missing at 5,16. Unlikely a Vistana w/ tail caught. Jesse seems to be on trail to the west, southwest. I'll look for it later 0245- Same thing at 5,15
