RIBBLE, D.D. 1986 JOURNAL 48 Christmas Tree Canyon, 3.5 mi N., 2.1 mi E of Mora, Mora Co., N.M. August 3 At my parent's cabin for R&R. Habitat around cabin is dominated by Ponderosa Pine w/some Gambel Oak understory. Around 0100hr (Rocky Mt-DST) I caught a Phrynosoma douglassi, 5-V length = 60mm. It was lying still in a sandy area near scattered rocks. Probably a male - has postanal scales. Elevation 7600ft. Temperature mid 70's. (Eventually gave it to Kevin De Queiroz.) 18 Hastings Natural History Reservation, Monterey Co., CA. August 18 Arrived around 1400h this afternoon. I'll be here until the 24th August. I plan on trapping grid MC-1 (Madro Canyon) and setting up a grid in Robertson Creek on Trapline X. Pam Williams helped me set traps on MC-1 this afternoon. We only set 2 traps per station instead of 3. Finished by 1900hrs. Today was quite warm (mid 90's), calm and clear. August 19 Arrived on the grid (MC-1) at 0600hrs, just barely enough light to see. The moon is close to full and was up all night. Temperature low 70's, calm, and partly cloudy. Finished checking all traps by 0730h, and went back to dust the following animals: #1952, ♂ (station 9,7) - DARK GREEN. He escaped to a hole under a bay tree, ~2m west of the station. #773, ♀ (station 9,12) - ORANGE. She escaped to a Newtown just south of the station #1931, ♀ (station 8,8) - RED. She escaped under logs 1m east of the station. #1953, ♂ (station 7,4) - LIME GREEN. Escaped down to the stream bottom, and 2m down stream to a hole in the bank.
