Collected bobcat scat on Trapline II, between #6 & #7, in grassland. Finished checking traps by 0200h. Shosun began to burn off the fog @ 0830, mostly gone by 0900h. Returned at 1630h to reset traps. Cooler than yesterday (low 80s), partly west cloudy (clouds on horizon over Bay). Saw a V. vulpes (Red Fox) on the road beyond about the observatories at 1745h. It ran under an oak before I could get my binoculars. Finished resetting all traps by 1815h and loaded home. July 14 Arrived at Russell this morning at 0600h. It's foggy (particularly on ridges), calm, and cool (high 50s). Saw a Urocyon cinereoargenteus on the north side of the road, ~½ mi east of N2, amongst the pines. Watched it for about 10 min as it scambled east. Seemed more concerned with me than anything else. Probably a ♂, because when it sat down facing me, no nipples were obvious and a swelling mid-lower belly was evident. Dark tail tip held horizontal when running.
