Trap mortality. Under live oak & blackberry ↓ 19 0100 Peromyscus californicus, ♀, mature, periorbital VIII 20 0300 P. boylii, ♀, mature, perforate? parous - large nipples. Must have been lactating very recently All ♂ P. boylii were toe-clipped to save on ear tags. Finished checking these traps by 0650h. Summary of captures on MC-1. P. californicus - 30 total captures (15♂, 15♀), 28 recaptures, 2 new animals P. boylii - 34 total captures (180? ♂), 24 recaptures, 10 new animals P. truei - 7 total captures (3♂, 4♀), 6 recaptures, 1 new animal N. fuscipes - 15 total captures (4♂, 8♀ - Didn't tag 3 animals) M. californicus - 1 recapture P. californicus - 1 recapture Reset traps on MC-1 from 1615 to 1800h, then finished resetting traps on Trapline VIII by 1830h. Today is the coolest day, yet. Calm, clear, high in low 80's. 2250h - Out for nighttime check - clear, calm, mid 50's, thought I'd plan on checking traps twice - resetting between checks.
