N. fusipes: 15 total, 2 new animals
P. truei: 5 total, 4 new animals
M.californicus: 2 total
Only Neotoma were caught in the large traps I placed - so maybe they fell the traps(?)
Finished checking Trapline VIII by 1130 hrs. Note the Sorex mortalities listed above. Went into town today for misc supplies around mid-day.
Started resetting traps on grid MC-1 at 1000h, and finished at 1720h.
It is cooler today (mid 80's), with a nice breeze. I reset the traps on Trapline VIII this morning as I checked for animals. I didn't reset Trapline VII.
220 h - Began my allnight chases... Cloudless night, calm, mid-60's, no moon yet. See grid data for trapping results (Oct 4). Closed all traps station 10,7
2300 - Dusted F, 1991 with ORANGE. I tried the "shake & bake" approach which doesn't work well because she jumped around so much, the dust got in her eyes. Try it with a brush! Anyway, she headed west under a rock which I flagged. I caught her by hand & attempted to brush/ wash the powder from her eyes. Not much luck 1952
2400 - [illegible], Q B, B. DUSTED DARK GREEN. I dusted this animal by hand with a weed. Washed O.L. It escaped into the log at the trap and I didn't see go out or nor could I catch a fluorescent trail. Hopefully, it is still inside the log.
