"Denver - Nov. 6\n\non a 'clay bank' only about\n15 miles from Denver. He\ncatches the Savannah Sparrow at night\nwith a net, taking any number of\nBlack, Brown, Gray-crowned and\nHepburn! He kept a mixed assortment\nof 75 or so in cages one winter,\nturning most of them loose. They were\neasy to keep - fed on 'weed-seed'\nwhich he could buy in the market\ncheaply.\n\nNiedrahl says Mourning Doves stay here\nall winter, even then the coldest spell\nthat recently he has noted Broad-winged\nHawks migrating thru in May,\nthat Red-eyed Vireos have become\ncasual visitors here in the city;\netc. He knows a great deal and\nshould be urged to write records\nand 'stories' for the Courier.
