- May 8 - We went down after an eagle nest today but the birds had not laid yet. An Indian came over with another bear skin. Miss Alexander bought another mink today. - May 9 - Went over to Swan Island this afternoon to look for goose eggs. We got one big one! Mrs. Stephens found a pair of nice large toads with a white to yellow line down the back. - May 10 - Mr. Stephens and I started up the creeks in the canoe this morning. By poling, paddling and towing we got up about 300 yards when we got caught in an eddy a the canoe began to fill. The bottle jumped and Mr. Stephens missed his footing and we [illegible] under the icy water.
