Thomomys altivulis July 29/1929 Several of these gopher diggings found at Bluff Lake 7400 ft. San Ber- nardino Mt. San Bernardino Co., Calif.: Four wire gopher traps set in likely looking tunnels caught one juvenile female; and one adult female, with well developed mammae. July 30/1929 Approximately a dozen wire gopher traps set in the lower end of the meadow at Bluff Lake San Bernardino Mt., San Bernardino Co., Calif. caught two a dull male gophers and one female. One of the male gophers was only caught by one foot, and when pulled from its burrow, it made success- ful nites at its fore leg which was caught in the trap. Once in a while it would bawne, and make grating noises with its teeth. Later examination of the injured foot showed that all of the toes had been chewed off, and a large stump left.
