Several of these animals were observed in the willows along the creek, at Cold Creek ranch, 4000 ft., Waterman Canyon, six miles north of San Bernardino, San Bernardino Co., Calif.

Gray squirrels were observed from Strawberry Valley, 6000 ft., up to Round Valley 9300 ft., on the Idyllwild to San Jacinto Peak Trail, San Jacinto Mts., Riverside Co., Calif. Moore was walking along the trail; he would often be startled by a falling branch or cone, from the top of some tall pine tree, and upon looking up the mischief maker could be observed, serenely perched on the end of some branch high up in the tree
