Moore Eutamias speciosus speciosus (Allen) July 28, 1929 Chipmunks were observed commonly in the vicinity of Bear Valley Dam on the south facing slope at 7,000 ft. San Bernardino Co., Calif. And were found living principally around the manganita, and buckthorn bushes. One individual was found to have a manganite seed in one of its cheek pouches. September 8, 1929 This chipmunk was observed commonly in the San Jacinto Mts., on the Trail from Idyllwild to the summit of San Jacinto Peak, from 5500 ft. to 9300 ft. on the forest floor, usually around the cingua fir, manganita, and buckthorn bushes.
