Moore Callospermophilus bernardinus July 28, 1929. These ground squirrels are very common at Bear Valley Dam, 7000 ft. San Bern- ardinus Mt. San Bernardino Co. Calif., on both the north and south facing slopes. One young individual (No 406 B.P.M.) when pursued by a dog, proved very adept at climbing a small pine tree, and succeeded in climbing fully six feet above the ground, as agile as its relative the gray squirrel.
