Ground squirrels were seen commonly on the south facing slope of Bear Valley at the Dam 7000 ft., San Bernardino Mts., San Bernardino Co., Calif., and were observed in the same association as the chipmunks, and "Callos", principally among the leuchthorn and monguito bushes.

Squirrels of this form were observed commonly, from the vicinity of Takquitz Valley 8000 ft., to Round Valley 9300 ft., on the Dodgewild to San Jacinto Peak trail,, San Jacinto Mts., Riverside Co. Calif.

While setting traps 4 1/4 mi. N. San Bernardino o./600 ft., San Bernardino Co. Calif., I heard a ground squirrel calling from the center of a large sunflower patch.
