June 21 In the same general area this afternoon, the road leading to Palmari Nursery. The area is mainly pasture, with large clumps of brush as described above. The birds are very many and hard to get; got one 1st year bird out of a flock of 6 or 8, in a weedy area between two dried fields. Saw one bird carrying food. rest. Saw fully grown young of the year, and from behavior judge they are on a second (a late) brood. They seem to be in groups, or very close territories. Some were in fields of cut hay, in these brushy areas I also found Thryomanes benichi, Oplebona verlescens, Melospiza melodia, Chamosa fasciata, and one flock of Psaltriparus. In the fields were Sturnella neglecta, and Azelais phoenicea.
