Zonotrichia leucophrys May 3 Bodega Bay sea level Sonoma Co, Calif. - Along the beach here, along the land spit closing the south end of the harbor, many lupines and other waist-high shrubs growing in the sand. One bird sang from the top of a lupine, the second flew from one lupine to another in a circle. The two were collected about 20 minutes apart, perhaps 30 yards apart. (These are # 331, 332). Many Song Sparrows and a few Savannahs in the area, Amer. Goldfinches and a & Cowbird. Missed one other White-crown chipping on top of a Lupine. Found no nests. Jun 15 Bolinas, sea level Marin Co, Calif. - Along the coast, at the dead end after the road has gone thru Bolinas, heard a few White-Crowns. This & was right at the edge of the water, then flew upon the cliff edge, where I shot it. Saw no others in the general area. There were Song Sparrows and American Goldfinch. The cliff was grass, lupine, and other coastal shrub. Jun 20 Near Bolinas 200 +/- ft. Marin Co, Calif. - Shot 2 birds in different localities, but only about 1/2 mile from each other, about 5 P.M. The first (335) was just at the top of Mesa Rd, and was accompanied by at least one other White-Crown; another bird (sp? ) flew away from the original sighting with these 2.
