Sept 18 Lini N, Zni & Marting saltmarsh, Contra Costa Co, Calif -
also saw rail; Probably Rallus limicola.
The hills around the marsh had Baccharis
in clumps + strips. There was a flock of Zonotrichia
leucophrys, a few Geothlypis trichas, some
marsh wrens, and for a while a Lanius
ludovicianus. I shot 3 Song Sparrows, 1
Yellowthroat, 1 White Crown, and 1 Marsh
Wren - with 5 shots. One Song sparrow
notted. Charlie gave me a few mammals to
put up. See catalog.
Oct. 1 U.C. Campus, Berkeley Alameda Co., Calif. - Began
baiting for trapping a few days ago. Further
notes will be under species acts; mainly of
Zonotrichia leucophrys.
