Banks 1958 Journal Sept 18 Lini N, Zni & Marting saltmarsh, Contra Costa Co, Calif - also saw rail; Probably Rallus limicola. The hills around the marsh had Baccharis in clumps + strips. There was a flock of Zonotrichia leucophrys, a few Geothlypis trichas, some marsh wrens, and for a while a Lanius ludovicianus. I shot 3 Song Sparrows, 1 Yellowthroat, 1 White Crown, and 1 Marsh Wren - with 5 shots. One Song sparrow notted. Charlie gave me a few mammals to put up. See catalog. Oct. 1 U.C. Campus, Berkeley Alameda Co., Calif. - Began baiting for trapping a few days ago. Further notes will be under species acts; mainly of Zonotrichia leucophrys.
