Banks 1961 Journal Apr.23 Santa Barbara Co., Calif. got anywhere near where the poisonous mustard is the coastal scrub. One can drive to town (?) of Surf, but cannot leave road. Disgusting situation. In this general area, i.e., Vandenburg Air Base + Pt. Arguello Missile Station, saw the following items of interest: Coast, Western meke, Cinnamon Teal Yellowthroat, Redwing, Song Sparrow Yellow-billed Magpie, Mockingbird, White-tailed Kite, (a little marshy area near Surf) , Roadrunner, White-crown Horned Lark, Orpsey, Lark Sparrow, Turkey Vulture, and one wildcat crossing road. Returned to Berkeley in late afternoon evening.
