Vicinity of Bolinas, sea level - Mari & Cabf.
June 15-22 1958
Arrived here for Zoo Biol, marine invertebrate
zoology. We are based in the old Coast Guard Station.
This is a 6-week session w/ Dr. R.I. Smith + Dr. Cadet
Hand. George Ziska, Pete Schramm, Von Poharts, Bill
Hamilton, + Al Zeigle are also there. Also Cope Mac-
Clintock, Invert Paleo.
Sun. PM had supper on
the beach - shot a Zantrichia. Tues., Geo. + I
drove around a bit + I got a Song Sparrow. Fri,
foundation area of bushy pasture loaded with
White-armed Sparrows. Worked this area Fri.
PM, Sat afternoon, and Sunday A.M. Saw:
Zonotrichia leucophrys, Melospiza melodia, Charadrius
fasciata, Thyronorax herindii Aplobriona
coenlestrae and Spizina tristis. In the fields
also more Sturnella neglecta, Acelaino phoenice
phoenicurus, and Zaleo Sparverinus. On Sun. (22nd)
saw a Sayonis nigricans in Baccharus in
this bushy field! This area is on the
road to Golden Gate village, or Palomarini Reef
+ nursery. Sunday about 9 went with Dr.
Smith to Oxberry Reef. Here there was a
flock of 60±2 Branta nigricans feeding on
Ulva lactuca. Also many gulls, rich Larus
hermani and L. argentatus, and 2 Andea
erodias. Seen feeding on the beach were
Melospiza, Zonotrichia, and Spizina. A herd of
