Calif.-Nev., line 500ft. 1/2 mi. W (mi's Simple Pond, Clark C., Nev.
Apr. 5 first time since enroute. Yesterday saw 5
White Pelicans flying up the river. After
a couple hours of walking and looking, shot
a Dark Rail from a flock in the marsh
by the cabin. It is now about 2 P.M. - our
plans are to hunt hawks for a while, then
clean up and go home.
Later: Spent a little over an hour looking
for lizards - they had disappeared since
this morning. Saw only 2, one of which
I captured. Found a Desert Tortoise
in a draw leading into the wash which
is in front of the cabin. This was about
2:30 P.M. Took a number of color pictures of flowers.
The map used in all these locality
designations is the "Davis Dam, Nev.-
Ariz.-Calif." quadrangle, USGS, 1952 Ed.,
N 3500-W 11430/15 (15" series).
Following is a list of birds seen on the trip.
