Zonotrichia leucophrys. Jan 26-27, Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif. Lateral upper tail coverts are in sheath, central ones (p 1 pr only) appear old+ worn - these are only ones not in sheath - others are more sheathed + smaller moving laterally. Central rectrices 2/3 to 3/4 grown, in sheath. Other rectrices old. Primaries, alula, + their greats not in sheath. Secondaries (left) 7,8,9 in sheath, as are their greater coverts. 6+7 are nearly full size, 8 just bursting sheath. Right wing identical. Crural tract (leg) has some feathers in sheath. ♀, Tos. 2x1mm Vol. 1.0m³ Vol. 63 The last of these birds ♂ Tes. 3+2 mm., Wt. 34.0 gm, also extremely fat, was essentially done with molt. Only a few crown feathers in sheath. Plumage very fresh all over. Bird ♂, the 1st year, had very little fat and was yellow - no big solo of white "melt" fat as on others. All the above birds - present migrants, i.e., pacificensis. Apr. 2 An adult gambelii, 26.3 gm. Crown black+white except for 1 feather on left black stripe. It is now, but so are some of the black+white ones. All new feathers black+white. Molt from frontal to occipital, most crown; superciliary, auriculars, nalar, loval; anterior cervical + upper back have nearly fully grown feathers; lower back has sheaths only exactly centrally, along spine, these less grown than those on upper back. No evident central tail coverts; others in sheath, biggest centrally. Replacement metes 2,3,4,5. 6 not dropped as yet, but is
