Junco Oregonus
June 7 Dean's Meadow, 6400 ft., Lassen Co., Calif. - flushed
junco from nest containing 3 eggs, at base of
3-ft. pine.
June 9 Bogard Campground, 5600 ft., Lassen Co., Calif. - At
12 o'clock noon walking across the sage flat just after
dark, 9 pm., a junco fluttered out across the
ground from about 6 ft to my side. It did
not fly until I shined my light on it. Found a
nest with four eggs in a clump of sage.
June 10 Saw bird under pine gathering very fine grass-
like material, presumably for nest building.
June 16 1 mi W Crescent Lake, Klamath Co., Oregon -
Flushed a ♀ from a nest in a hollowed out
cavity under the edge of the road bank, on the
road to Summit Lake. 4 eggs. Collected her.
She had landed in the road, then flew to a small
pine and was chipping.
June 21 7½ mi S, 5½ mi E Detroit, 2000 ft., Mariona Co., Oregon
Found nest with 4 eggs. Both adults flushed from
within a foot of each other.
