½ mi NW Snyder Ranch, Swift, Clark Co., Nevada
Apr. 2 I think me are finally settled down for the rest
of the week, barring more bad weather. Veerda
Screach Owl afternoons, but couldn't get to it. Went
lat shooting, but again no lats, no poor-wills.
I set about a dozen more traps in the area.
We are not far from the desert, and not far from
the pond. The immediate area is open [illegible]
with a lot of fallen timber. Nearly every
down tree has a hole under it. A Barn Owl
flew over about 8 P.M. I put up the man tonight.
Apr. 3 What a busy day today, in all respects. Bad!
Perogryns [illegible] smashes kill and Perogrythms.
We were out hunting by 6 A.M., but until 8 I had
no birds. Couldn't get close to anything but
Bandel Snail and Andulan Warblers. I hunted
along the edge of the floodplain and desert,
occasionally into a wash. A number of flocks of
Violet-Green Swallows flew [illegible] and White-
crowned Sparrows were common. The usual
Ash-throated and Vermilia Flycatchers were
present, and long and many Andulan Warblers.
Cissal thrasher and Sunk Jay were in the
Arrow-weed-Mesquite at the edge of the desert
bluff. Heard a Roadrunner and saw afar
Phainoplepas. In one wash saw a pair of Rock
Whans and several Turkey Vultures. In a
mesquite thicket found an Abat Towhee. It got
